A Day at Little Mountains

For morning students, we start each by reading a book that relates to our lesson for the day. Afterwards, we go straight into the carefully crafted lesson that allows each student to explore and create something new. Students then will have an outdoor recess (weather permitting) followed by lunch.

Students who join us after lunch will have the same opportunities to do the days lesson together.

Anyone who joins us for a full day will...

Your Options

We are flexible and want to work together to find a schooling option that works for you. You can sign up for a half day (morning or afternoon) or a full day. If you need before or after school care, we have options beginning at 7:00am and ending at 5:00pm.

Amy Nyffenegger

After living abroad in Switzerland and Thailand for the past 30 years, I have decided to move back to Michigan to pursue my passion in education. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in English and International Business, and a Masters in Elementary Education. I have over 23 years of experience working with children at all different age levels, and I have taught, for the past 10 years, in a multi-age bilingual classroom (preschool – second grade). Working with children, watching their sense of wonder, and encouraging them as they learn new skills, makes me love my profession. Making a difference and being a positive influence in the lives of children is my priority. Combining the love of nature with a hands-on approach to teaching, children will be inspired to explore, learn and grow to become life-long learners.

Jody Hill

Jody Hill brings over 23 years of experience working with children to Little Mountains Preschool. Her work has included being a paraprofessional at an elementary school, working as an assistant in a Pre-Kindergarten class and raising four children. Mrs. Hill earned her associate’s certification in Early Childhood Development in 2018 and her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development through Central Michigan University in 2022. Mrs. Hill believes that every child should have the opportunity to grow and develop in an environment enriched in play-based learning. She enjoys facilitating lessons that explore out of the box thinking and include exciting adventures. Worm study, painting snow, and nature walks are a few ways Mrs. Hill engages her students in adventures that lead to in depth learning.

Mary Fives

I retired from teaching a year ago with 44 years of experience in teaching art. I first started teaching in the Saginaw school district as a traveling art teacher. Teaching students in grades K-6th grades. Then I switched over to teaching special needs students at the Millet Center and at the time that Center switched over from the Saginaw City schools to the Saginaw Intermediate School district. From there in the early 2000's the Transitions Center under the SISD was built and I moved over to that building teaching students’ art classes.

In 2017 My husband and I won the All Area Art Award together for providing leadership in the arts and education in the community of Saginaw. Now I also a volunteer my time teaching art at Major Chords for Minors to students while waiting for their lessons. This program at this time has online lesson plans for students and I also teach art online with the program. I Love teaching at the Boys and Girls club of Saginaw.

Brandon Greiner

Hello, my name is Brandon. I graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 2007 and from Baker college in 2010. I was a pharmacy tech for 8 years prior to my daughter being born and had the pleasure of being a stay-at-home dad for the last 4 years. In my spare time, I love hanging out with my family, friends and going on new camping adventures. I’m looking forward to and am very excited for my second year with Little Mountains!
